Projects

I have managed a wide variety of projects. On the digital media front these include websites, flash games, animation and cd/dvd builds. As for the other things I've done, they usually revolve around project management consultancy and helping organisations get organised.

Below are some of my most interesting and favourite jobs.

Websites
Training
Games
Animations

Websites

School Councils UK - participation website

Role: project manager
Brief: revamp this charity’s site to create an appealing social networking site for 11-18 year olds to discuss democracy in their schools.

I managed this project from pitch to delivery and client handover. We created the site in Plone and added some flash bits. It is fully accessible and XHTML compliant. I worked with my team to analyse the client's requirements, develop the functionality and architecture of the site and complete the build/testing.

VCS Collaborate - collaboration site

Role: project manager
Brief: create a collaboration site for the Voluntary and Community sector in the East Midlands and the UK.

This site is used extensively in the East Midlands and has been hailed as an example of best practice for others to follow. Its appeal comes in that it is very easy to use even for people not too experienced with sites and even contains a wiki.

Picture Poll - consultation tool

Role: project manager
Brief: develop a new form of poll called a picture poll to display data on polls visually

A very successful and easy to use site that is being used by councils across the UK. It asks two very simpe questions and plots the data on a graph showing trends and correlations.

O2Go - branding and website

Role: project manager
Brief: create the branding and a first website for this startup company

Working in close contact with the company MD, we created a fresh brand for this drinks company. The site resolves around the company blog and provides more info for the customer and also the opportunity to purchase.

Training

Environment Agency - project and programme management training

Role: project support officer
Brief: work in the newly established Environment Protection project support office to encourage and train on the use of effective project management controls.

Among the outcomes were simplified documents with helpful guidance and a strong emphasis on writing a meaningful project brief. I scoped out, devised and partislly developed a training programme for the directorate which included writing short, dynamic workshops. For the senior managers I ran Appreciative Inquiry sessions to inspire them into changing their behaviours and practices.

Flash games

MyAbodo - e-learning flash app for Defra and the Climate Challenge project

Role: project manager
Brief: create a game to affect attitude change to climate change amongst 11-16 year olds and drive them to action at a toolkit

We leaned towards creating an 'interactive toy' rather than a game to solve this brief. MyAbodo allows you to customise your house and share it across the web by embedding it in your blog or homepage. You learn how the choices you make in your immediate vicinity effect the state of the environment around you. It reached over 100,000 unique visitors in the UK.

FlickNKick - Principality Building Society

Role: project manager
Brief: support the marketing activities of Principality with a flash game to raise awareness of their sponsorship of the Welsh rugby premiership.

The resulting game is based around the school-yard game of table rugby, where you have to flick your player down the rugby pitch, avoid the tacklers and pick up the bonuses - all against the clock! The game has received over 150,000 visitors and is still bringing soft benefits to the client.

The Ningotiators - viral marketing game for easyJet Hotels

Role: project manager
Brief: create a compelling game to emphasise the easyJet Hotels brand and drive more traffic to their website.

We created this stylistic game around the theme of ninjas. You assume the guise of a female stealth ninja to negotiate the best hotel discounts across the world.

Animation

Processed - short animation

Role: production assistant
Brief: as part of the HP and Watershed initiative, SE3D, create a short animation.

I worked with the team to manage the day to day workflow of this project and help keep this experiment project on track. We were proud to trial HP's Maya Rendering Service and create a charming 3 minute animation about a frog struck by love.
